Hello, my name is Doug. I was born
on Thanksgiving day in 1958 in beautiful southern Indiana, where the corn
grows tall and time passes slowly. I was raised in a Christian home and
learned about God at an early age. My dad passed on when I was six years old
and my mom, having seven children to raise alone, sold the 40 acre family farm
and we moved to the edge of the small town of French Lick where we lived until
I was 13 years old. At that time my mom, feeling led by God to do so, moved us
all the way to the gulf coast city of Mobile, Alabama to support a new church
that was starting out there with her tithes and our membership. To a 13 year
old boy from the country, the city can be a wild and exciting place and I
began smoking weed, which led to plenty of other drugs and living a pretty
crazy life. My mom, having seven kids to raise alone, didn't have the time or
energy to keep me from doing so and that lifestyle went well into my 30's, at
which time I met God for myself and became saved. I married the woman I was
living with at the time and so began my walk with God. My mom passed away in
the spring of 1987, my marriage failed in 1989 and I drifted away from God.
Time passed, I lived my life as I pleased, but obviously God had plans for me
and I turned my life back to him in 2003. I have written a few gospel songs,
as well as a few country songs, (none of which are published). I love nature
and believe that everything God created has its own beauty, whether a tree, a
bird, or a human being. I live alone now and am content in doing so, who knows
what life has in store for any of us and what path God will choose for me
next. Well, that's where I am now :-) waiting to see what will happen next in
my life and looking forward to living it to the fullest.
May God richly bless your life as he has mine.
